New Initiatives

We are excited to welcome everyone back to Anshai Torah this year!  As we anticipate the New Year of 5783, we look forward to introducing several new initiatives to heighten everyone’s enjoyment and appreciation of the Yamim Noraim.

Structure of Service

The Rosh Hashanah service will end thirty minutes early on both Day I and Day II, at 12:45pm and 12:30, respectively!  Various accommodations will be made in the service.  Amongst our goals is to encourage congregants to experience the beauty of the liturgy and the unique music that defines the Musaf (Additional) service.  The sermon will be presented towards the end of Musaf on both days, enabling us to better explore the hidden treasures of the prayers that comprise the Musaf service.

   Rabbinical Student Sarah Rockford

Sarah Rockford is a second-year rabbinical student at the Jewish Theological Seminary in NYC.  We are excited to welcome her to Anshai Torah where she will be an integral part of our team of educators who will engage our students and adults throughout the Yamim Noraim.

 Tikkun Olam Project

The Yamim Noraim are known as long days of prayer.  The days- Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur- are dedicated to self-evaluation and self- reflection.  We are providing a short interlude during each day for those who would like to engage in another key element defining Jewish life- Tikkun Olam (Social Action).

   Learning Sessions

Our rabbis teach us, “Talmud Torah K’neged Kulam- Nothing is as important as the study of Torah.”  As a people we have always promoted the advancement of study throughout one’s life.  During the course of Yom Kippur, study sessions will be available for those who would like to deepen their appreciation of High Holy Day themes outside the setting of the sanctuary.
