Barrett A. Stern is thrilled and honored to serve as President of Congregation Anshai Torah.

After being raised in Dallas, he attended Syracuse University as an undergraduate student athlete, where he played soccer.  Upon graduating from Syracuse, he attended St. John’s University School of Law in New York City.  Barrett, a fifth generation Dallas-ite, moved back home to his roots in Texas where he obtained his bar license.  Barrett is a founding partner of the law firm Dement | Stern PLLC where he focuses in the areas of Collaborative and Family Law.  Barrett has been recognized and honored throughout his distinguished legal career, including being named to Best Lawyers in America for the past three years.

Barrett has long served his Jewish and Legal community outside of Anshai Torah.  He was a board of trustees member of The Legacy Senior Communities (Dallas Home for the Jewish Aged) for ten years, along with being on the Legacy Willow Bend board for many years.  He is a Past President of Collaborative Professionals of Dallas and past chair of the Collaborative Section of the Dallas Bar Association.  Barrett continues to be an active member of many legal groups and bar associations.  Barrett has also been BBYO advisor and Hebrew school teacher and also coached the Dallas Boys' Maccabi soccer teams for several past Maccabi Games.

Barrett’s commitment to Anshai Torah, began by serving on multiple committees, including the Security committee, Second Rabbi Search committee, Scholar-In-Residence committee, and the most recent Strategic Planning Committee.  Barrett then was elected to the Board of Directors and later the Executive Committee.  After serving as a Vice President and then Executive Vice President, Barrett was prepared for the task of President of this young and vibrant synagogue.

Barrett and his wife Jana, both raised with strong Jewish values and the understanding of the importance of community leadership, have two wonderful young children being raised at Anshai.  Outside of synagogue, Barrett enjoys sports, is an avid long-distance runner, loves Liverpool F.C. and our local sports teams, and he continues to coach his children’s youth soccer teams.
