Zoom Conference Instructions
Please follow the instructions below if you're new to Zoom.
ONE-TIME SETUP
- Go to https://zoom.us on a device that has a webcam – preferably a laptop, but a cell phone or tablet works too.
- Create an account. Click SIGN UP, IT'S FREE. If you have a Google or Facebook account, leave the email address blank and click "Sign in with Google" or "Sign in with Facebook." Alternatively, you can create an account using an email address and password. It does *not* have to be your work email.
- Download the Zoom Client for Meetings (on laptops and PCs) or the ZOOM Cloud Meetings app (on mobile devices). You'll need to download the app. You cannot join from a web browser.
You can find the desktop client download under Resources menu at the top of the zoom.us page.
- Open the app and sign in. Use the same Google/Facebook account or email/password you used to sign up.
- If you're planning to use a headset or headphones, test them now. Make sure the audio input and output are set correctly. Go to https://zoom.us/test.
TO JOIN A SERVICE, PROGRAM, OR MEETING
A few minutes before the start time (or anytime during the event):
- Click the following link: https://zoom.us/join
- Enter the meeting ID and password (if requested). Please login to see it.
For security reasons, we are no longer publishing the meeting ID on our website. If you cannot login, please see emails from Rabbi Weinberg or contact the shul office at 972-473-7718.
- Call using Internet Audio. You will also see an option to dial in. We recommend you use Internet Audio as the sound quality is much better than when you dial in by phone.
- Be sure to give the app permission to use your microphone and camera.
DURING THE MEETING
- Turn on video. This makes for a more personal and engaging experience.
- Mute yourself when not talking. Click the microphone button to mute or un-mute.
